Coach Smith told reporters on Friday that Jakob Chychrun was doubtful for Saturday’s game against the New Jersey Devils and that the defenseman « kinda shot something there, we’ll see how he reacts to the treatment here. » Chychrun left Thursday night’s 7-2 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning with a lower-body injury. During the second period, Lightning defenseman Victor Hedman deflected Chychrun, then in the third period, he and Lightning forward Michael Eyssimont hit the boards. He was able to get up but headed for the bench favoring his left leg before going down the tunnel to the locker room. Chychrun recorded one assist, one shot, three hits and five blocks in 18:07 of ice time this game.
The 24-year-old has two goals and three assists for five points in 12 games since being acquired from the Arizona Coyotes in a March 1 trade. He has nine goals and 33 points this season, split between the Coyotes and Senators.
