Pato O’Ward hopes the doors to F1 will open and if so, the Arrow McLaren SP driver won’t hesitate to quit IndyCar. According to him, he would have the opportunity to return to the American championship if he were to try the adventure in Formula 1.
« I feel like I could always come back to IndyCar and the window to get into Formula 1 is a bit narrower » O’Ward said. « I’m already in IndyCar now and feel like I’ve established myself as one of the title contenders every year. »
« I love IndyCar, it’s one of the best races in the world, if not the best in terms of competitiveness. But I grew up watching Formula 1 and I grew up with the dream of F1 like many other drivers in the world. »
« That’s what opened my love to so many other categories. So I’m still very keen to move up to Formula 1. Will it happen? When will it happen? I don’t I have no idea, but I have a great team behind me. »
« F1 is a crazy world »
O’Ward is not giving up on the idea of arriving in F1 one day, since many surprises are happening on the transfer market. Nevertheless, the Mexican thinks above all about IndyCar and the Indy 500.
« F1 is a crazy world and the doors you think will open won’t open, the things you don’t think will open, and maybe both, or maybe both won’t open. What I learned is that you can’t plan anything, you can’t even plan the current year. »
« You can only plan what’s next. What’s in store for me is to win more races and fight for the IndyCar championship as well as the Indy 500 and then the opportunity will come- Of course, if that’s the case, I’ll be the first to grab it. »
