The new BMW M5 continues to be tested at the Nurburgring. The sports sedan is continuing its tests to fine-tune its settings with a view to making its official debut in a few months. Our photographers have once again crossed paths with the sports car, this time we can see the interior of this generation.
Although its cabin still contains external equipment and fabrics in order to camouflage certain parts, we can at least see the general arrangement of the furniture. The steering wheel is all new, while the physical controls and stitching in BMW M colors are retained.
On the dashboard, we notice the presence of the curved screen of BMW with its operating system iDrive 8. The latter should integrate various connectivity and comfort features. At the level of the central tunnel is the wheel dedicated to the management of the infotainment system. We can also see on the left side the button of the automatic transmission which replaces the classic gear lever.

The German sedan already seems to have fun on the circuit. On the aesthetic level, there are no particular novelties compared to the previous images. We will have to wait until next year to discover the new BMW M5, but the inscription « Electrified Vehicle » on the side already confirms that its engine will be hybrid. The most likely hypothesis is that this M5 will be powered by a 4.4 L V8 coupled to an electric unit for a total of 750 hp and 1000 Nm of torque. This is the same engine found under the body of the BMW XM.
We also hear about a Touring version of the BMW M5. This has not been formally confirmed by the manufacturer, but BMW M boss Frank van Meel advised us to keep an eye on the German circuit in the hope that a prototype of the sports wagon finally makes its appearance.
