Ontario’s police watchdog has invoked their mandate following a collision in North York Saturday morning that left two people injured.

The incident took place on Tresillian Road, near Highway 401 and Avenue Road.

Paramedics say that a male and female patient were transported to hospital with minor injuries.

Few other details have been released regarding the collision, but Toronto police say an investigation is being conducted by York police and the Ontario Provincial Police.

They also say there was a subsequent collision in Toronto.

The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is also investigating the case, although it is unclear what caused them to invoke their mandate.

The SIU investigates all incidents involving police in which there is injury, death or allegations or sexual assault.
