« With the 911 Sally Special, we want to help people who are in urgent need of support, just like in the film from which the car is inspired, » says Dr. Sebastian Rudolph, Vice President of Communications at Porsche. The project spanned 10 months and brought together both the film’s original Pixar designers and the folks at Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur to create this tribute. “We wanted to make a fully street-ready 911, but not an exact copy of the Sally Carrera. We asked the question: what would Sally look like as a street model today?” explains Pixar’s Jay Ward.
The Porsche 911 Sally Special is based on the 480hp 911 992 Carrera GTS, with a manual gearbox. It is painted in « Sallyblueemetallic ». Sally’s tattoo has not been forgotten. The Turbo-look rims from the 996 have been updated for the 992. As for the interior, it is trimmed in tri-colour Pepita fabric, complemented by chalk-coloured leather and Speed Blue stitching.
Girls Inc. and UNHCR
The Porsche 911 Sally Special isn’t just there to pay homage to the movie Cars. She will also be auctioned off to benefit two charities: Girls Inc, which supports young girls, and UNHCR, the United Nations refugee program helping those in war in Ukraine. The 911 Sally Special goes on sale August 20 at Monterey Car Week in California (USA).
