Matt Kew is Autosport’s F1 Editor, a position he has held since March 2022 after covering Formula E, Extreme E and the British Touring Car Championship.
Matt joined Autosport in 2018 to work primarily on the magazine, but his incessant quotes from Alan Partridge made his office colleagues quickly think he would be better suited for increased field work.
Needless to say, Matt got the last laugh when he won Motorsport UK’s Young Journalist of the Year award in 2019.
His interest in motorsport was sparked by regular trips to watch the ASCAR crash around the inclined Rockingham Oval.
Matt studied Politics and Philosophy at the University of Sheffield – he received first class honors for his dissertation assessing the lack of female participation in top-level motor racing.
He covered a wide variety of races and national rallies for Autosport as a freelancer before committing full time. His efforts to defend the merits of historic races are frustrated by a dubious taste for music and James Bond actors.
