After two years alongside adidas, Cagliari has just unveiled its new jerseys made by EYE Sport, the club’s new equipment supplier.
At the end of a very complicated season, Cagliari finished the Serie A championship in 18th place, synonymous with a descent to the lower level. For 2022-2023, the club will therefore return to Serie B, almost six years after leaving it. The club has also changed its technical partner.
After two years of collaboration with adidas, the Italian club is committed to a brand still little known in the world of football, EYE Sports and for a five-year contract. The opportunity for this Italian equipment manufacturer to have a little more footing in this world where competition is very strong.
Sardinia-inspired jerseys
For this first year of partnership, EYE Sport has made very interesting outfits for the club. Realizing swimsuits combining simplicity and tradition of the island of Sardinia, the result can only be successful.
The home jersey features two large vertical stripes stamped with red and blue. The V-neck has golden inserts which are also present on the sleeve edges. On the front of the tunic, at the level of the torso, is noticeable a subtle graphic of pibiones. This is a traditional weaving technique. In addition, inside the sleeves, on the hem, there is a band recalling the year of the historic victory of the Scudetto, 1969-70. This band is present on the three jerseys of the club.
Mainly white, the away jersey has small touches of color on the shoulders. In the center of the collar, on the front, there is a small blue triangular piece bearing the 4 Mori logo in gold (these are the 4 heads present on the flag of Sardinia). In addition, the entire jersey is covered with the writing “Cagliari Calcio” made with the Bàttoro typographic font, which was designed by an artist from the island, Stefano Asili.
A crazy third jersey
Worn by the players during a friendly match against Strasbourg, the Cagliari third jersey is intended to be original. Using the color code of the logo Sardigna, the Italian label used blue, green and yellow. A mosaic look has been created on the entire outfit. The V-neck features a deep blue color which is also applied to all the logos. Original and successful.
Who is EYE Sport?
Founded by former professional player, Alessandro Riu, EYE Sport was launched in 2006. Based in the city of Cagliari, the brand is still little known in the professional world. More fashionable in the amateur and semi-professional levels, the brand, on the other hand, is the supplier of volleyball and basketball clubs in Italy. Also a partner in Greek football, the brand recently signed Chievo Verona and Cagliari in Italy. Will the brand achieve as impressive a rise as Castore? We can only wish him.
